Providence, R.I. – For many in the East Bay, the 4th of July is synonymous with the Bristol Parade. Now in its 225th year, it's the oldest parade of its kind in the nation. To get a sense of what the celebration means to Bristol, we turned to Halsey Herreshoff. Hereshoff is a world-class sailor, who's been on the crews of three winning America's Cup boats. He's also won more town council elections than he can count. He sat down with WRNI's Scott MacKay and told him that the greatest honor of his life came on July 4, 1984, when he marched as the grand marshal of the Bristol July Fourth parade.
