Memorial Hospital's long time CEO names successor
By MEGAN HALL
Providence, RI – It's an end of an era for Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket. The medical center's president and CEO for nearly 50 years is retiring.
Frank Dietz has been the leader of Memorial for 47 years, so long that the Hospital Association of Rhode Island claims he's the longest serving hospital CEO in the country.
But Dietz is finally handing over his position. The job goes to Martin Tursky, who's been serving at Memorial since 2010 as the chief operating officer and executive vice president of the hospital. Tursky says he feels like he's replacing a legendary football coach.
"It's kind of like taking over for Vince Lombardi. Somebody that's got a track record that's truly phenomenal," he says.
Tursky will officially take over the hospital on October 1st, but Frank Dietz won't be far away. He's staying on as a consultant and a member of Memorial's board of trustees.
