More change for RI Democratic Party; Mandeville departing
Following state Democratic chairman Ed Pacheco's recent announcement that he'll be leaving that post in early May to pursue a run for secretary of state, the party's executive director, Stephanie Mandeville, is also on the way out. She says this in a mass email:
After much deliberation, I have made the bittersweet decision not to return from maternity leave.
My nearly three years as executive director of the Rhode Island Democratic Party have been an honor and one of the most challenging and rewarding professional experiences I have had. As E.D. I have been privileged to be a part of some vast changes at the RIDP under the chairmanship of Ed Pacheco. Chairman Pacheco envisioned a state party focused on grassroots politics with an open line of communication for Democrats at every level and in every town. The work is never done, but I believe we made incredible progress in achieving those goals.
From our weekly email that increased communication and allowed us to interact with supporters to our fully-staffed field program which contributed greatly to Democratic wins in 2010 and 2012, I am incredibly proud of the strides we have made.
Mandeville says party staffer Jonathan Boucher will take over as interim executive director.
No word yet on Pacheco's successor as state Democratic chairman.
