PROVIDENCE, RI – The newest stretch of the William C. O'Neill Bike Path is now open.
This nearly a mile stretch of the so-called South County Bike Path runs from Kingston Station in West Kingston to Route 108 in Wakefield.
The path includes an option for cyclists to bypass heavy traffic on their way to the shore in Narragansett. And it offers a lit tunnel under Route 1 in Wakefield. The plan is to fill the walls of the 94-foot long tunnel with murals painted by the public.
The entire South County Bike Path stretches 7.8 miles and is the fourth longest in the state.
