PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island is likely in store for the ninth winter storm of the season. Forecasters say six to 10 inches of snow could accumulate by this time tomorrow morning.
The snowfall is expected to begin mid to late this afternoon, with some coastal areas possibly seeing sleet or freezing rain mixed in. National Weather Service meteorologist Neil Strauss says intensity will pick up over night, with snow potentially falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
"The snow will be winding down during the Thursday morning commute," Strauss says. But it will be messy because of the left over blowing and drifting snow."
A winter storm warning will be in effect for all of Rhode Island, except Block Island, which will have a winter storm watch.
