Providence, R.I. – When she passed away two years ago at the age of 92, Eileen Slocum was known as Newport's last grand dame. Over the years, Slocum welcomed a sitting president, presidential candidates, billionaires and European royalty at he home at 459 Bellevue Ave.
Now a new film about her life, titled "Behind the Hedgerow," is set to debut at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. It's the second film by G. Wayne Miller, a longtime staff writer at The Providence Journal.
