Newly elected lawmakers head to orientation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – More than two dozen newly elected state lawmakers in Rhode Island head back to school this week.

The 29 freshmen legislators are scheduled to attend an all-day orientation at the Statehouse on Wednesday to acquaint themselves with the ins and outs of Smith Hill.

There are 22 new House members and seven new senators.

They'll hear presentations from various legislative offices and will also hear from a representative of the state ethics commission.
