November second hottest on record

PROVIDENCE, RI – Well, it's official. Last month was the second warmest November since the National Weather Service started record-keeping in the 1890's. Meteorologist Alan Dunham says the average temperature for the Boston area was 50.4 degrees. That's 5.7 degrees above normal.

"Well we just ended up in a situation where we really didn't get any cold air out of Canada," he says. "We had a couple little flirting rounds of it where the temperature got down to normal but for the most part we ended up with situations where the air came from the south or southwest."

December is starting where November left off. Monday's high will be in the lower 50's. Tuesday's temperature will be back in the 60's. Normal for this time of year is 45 degrees.
