PROVIDENCE, RI – A Providence company that makes labels with no backing has received a $1.5 million loan guarantee from the state Economic Development Commission. Three Brown University graduates founded the start-up company known as "NuLabel." They've promised to hire 20 people over the next three years in exchange for the loan guarantee.
Company president and co-founder Max Winograd says he'll try to hire locally. "I would love to hire folks that live in our backyard, that know the area, know all the great assets Rhode Island has," he says. "There's a compelling argument to be made for both growth inside of Rhode Island but also adding to the overall base of talented and skilled workers by drawing from a national pool."
Winograd says the company envisions hiring 39 people over the next five years.
