Obama dinner to feature local farms
Providence, R.I. –
Rhode Island famers hope to shine at a democratic fundraiser tonight headlined by President Barack Obama. Much of the food for the dinner will come from local growers, including Red Planet Vegetables in Johnston, Scratch Farm in Cranston and City Farm in Providence.
Chefs and owners from the Providence restaurant Al Forno have planned a special menu for the event, which will be hosted in a private home.
President Obama's visit to the Ocean State today is his first since he was on the campaign trail in 2008. The president is also slated to meet with workers and tour a factory in Woonsocket.
