The Newport-based tall ship, the Oliver Hazard Perry, is set to be back up and running by Tuesday. The vessel lost power and floated through Newport Harbor Sunday evening, the ship knocked into several other boats moored in the harbor.

The 200 foot-long tall ship lost power after its propellers got caught on dock lines, according to the ship’s owner. The Oliver Hazard Perry drifted several hundred feet through the harbor, knocking into four other boats

Jessica Wurzbacher heads the nonprofit that operates the tall ship.

“Thanks to the quick actions of the captain crew, Newport Harbor Master, Oldport Marine and the Coast Guard, the ship was safely secured to the dock at the Newport Harbor Hotel, and the Newport Yacht Club in the northeast corner of the Newport Harbor,” Wurzbacher said.

According to Wurzbacher, they are assessing any damage to the other boats. No one was injured during the incident.
