The Red Sox will host the Tampa Bay Rays April 5th. David Price gets the start for Boston.
The team promises “surprises” for the pre-game ceremony, but would not give out any information besides saying it will have a New England “feel.” Fans will notice the safety netting, that protects them from foul balls, has been extended well past first and third base.
Adam Grossman, Red Sox Chief Marketing Officer, said the extension came at the request of the commissioner’s office. “Our goal and our priority is to ensure our fans are as safe as possible and so extending that netting was something we thought was really important,” he said.
Also, the team added a private seating area next to the Red Sox dugout. The price for that area begins at $12,500 for a group of 25.
