PROVIDENCE, RI – Former Rhode Island congressman Patrick Kennedy is opening up about why he decided to bow out of public life.
In an interview aired on CNN, Kennedy told Dr. Sanjay Gupta his congressional duties were interfering with his efforts to stay clean and sober.
"Living in the public eye and in political life was no conducive to really getting that kind of long term steady recovery that absolutely has to be the number one priority in my life," says Kennedy.
Kennedy also revealed that he's been in rehab over half a dozen times.
