The PawSox have given fans reason to hope they will stay at McCoy Stadium. On Monday, team owners announced they are seeking proposals for a study on what it would take to upgrade McCoy and remain there through the end of the current lease, which expires in 2021.

Pawtucket’s Director of Administration Antonio Pires says the study will focus on immediate improvements and structural upgrades.

“We want to have a facility that is comparable to what other Triple A franchises have and is part of the competition, to make it similar to what other communities are experiencing with similar franchises,” Pires said.

The Pawtucket Red Sox, the city of Pawtucket and the state of Rhode Island have agreed to split the bill for the study, projected to cost between $80,000 and $100,000. The study is expected to be completed in December.
