Pawtucket Mayor pushes cooling centers

Providence, R.I. – Pawtucket Mayor and Public Safety Director James Doyle is inviting people to cool off at the city's cooling centers. Doyle says heat related illness is the number one weather-related cause of death among the elderly. The Senior Center on Main Street is open Monday through Friday until 4. The Pawtucket Public Library on Summer Street is open Monday through Thursday until 4:45. The Providence Journal reports that the two public buildings will operate as cooling centers all summer, whenever the National Weather Service declares a heat wave.
