The state Board of Elections may consider issues Tuesday related to the recall of Providence City Councilor Kevin Jackson.
Jackson hopes to challenge part of the basis for the recall election in Ward 3 scheduled for May 2.
The Elections Board may also hear from two of the organizers of the recall.
Jackson has served as a Providence councilor representing the Mount Hope section since the mid-1990s. He was arrested last year and charged with misusing a campaign contribution and embezzling more than $127,000 from a youth sports team. Jackson has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The recall was set in motion when more than 20 percent of Jackson’s constituents supported the move by signing petitions. Jackson has represented Providence’s Mount Hope neighborhood since first winning election in the mid-90s.
