Over one hundred students between the fourth and eighth grades from the U.S. and Canada will compete against each other in teams of two. Hasbro’s Karen Davis says the tournament will have many educational benefits for children.

“Because of the fact that the kids play in teams, it certainly does help their team-building skills. We know it also helps with literacy and certainly vocabulary development. It also is instrumental in helping them with social skills, because they’re working together as a team and they’re playing against other kids," said Davis.

The championship game will be played in front of a 64 square-foot giant scrabble board. The winning team will receive a check for $10,000.
