PROVIDENCE, RI – Most Providence teachers will be rehired, but not all.
The Providence School District says it will recall about 14-hundred of the termination notices it sent out earlier this year.
Grappling with budget cuts, the school district had sent termination letters to every teacher.
In a released statement, the district says it will work with roughly 370 teachers to see if there's a matching position inside the district. And it will not rescind termination letters for 119 teachers.
The Providence School Board is seeking a judgment from Superior Court in a move it hopes will remove any legal roadblocks.
