Public hearing to review Landmark bidder's set for next week
By MEGAN HALL
Providence, RI – Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket is once again altering its timeline and approach to finding a buyer.
Last Friday was supposed to be the day Landmark's Special Master recommended a potential buyer. Now, he's going to leave the entire decision up to the courts.
Judge Michael Silverstein will review the benefits of each of the five bidders- four for the entire Landmark system, one just for the rehab hospital- in a public hearing next week.
Landmark spokesman Bill Fischer says it's the best approach considering the huge response to the hospital's call for bids.
"We have so much information to review and so many parties that are interested in Landmark," he says,"it is best to have this process play out publically."
Details on the proposals to buy Landmark will be available to the public on Wednesday.
Transition Healthcare from Nashville Tennessee has already identified its interest in the hospital. So has Regional Healthcare Partners, another company from Tennessee.
