This weekend the city of Providence puts on its second International Arts Festival, PVD Fest. The festival turns downtown Providence into one giant block party, featuring dozens of bands, dance, art installations and more.
PVD Fest is Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza’s effort to establish a South by Southwest vibe in New England. Festival organizers say about 100,000 people attended last year’s inaugural event, and they’re looking to do at least as well this year. RIPR’s Chuck Hinman discussed some of the highlights with festival organizer and FirstWorks Executive Artistic Director Kathleen Pletcher.
