Raimondo Wins Leadership Role In Democratic Governors Association

Dec 5, 2017

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo has won election as vice chair of the Democratic Governors Association.  Washington Governor Jay Inslee was voted chairman of the 15-member Democratic governors group.

In a statement, Raimondo said she looks forward to working with other governors heading into the 2018 election cycle. Raimondo is expected to face a tough re-election fight herself, with a handful of Republicans gearing up for the chance to run against her.

Raimondo says Democrats have a historic number of gubernatorial candidates running in 2018, in red and blue states, and states with a roughly equal balance of Democrats and Republicans.
