Raimondo's Campaign Balance Tops $2.6M

Aug 1, 2017

Governor Gina Raimondo has a campaign balance of more than $2.6 million at the end of the second quarter of 2017.

That dwarfs the $180,000 balance held by Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, Raimondo's Republican rival from 2014.

Raimondo raised about $546,000 in the second quarter, most of it from individual donors. In a reflection of the governor's fundraising prowess, her latest campaign finance report runs 336 pages.

Fung’s latest total is $100,000 more than he had at the end of the first quarter of 2017.

Raimondo beat Fung by about four points in the 2014 race for governor. Fung is expected to run for governor again in 2018. Other potential GOP candidates include former state Rep Joe Trillo and House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan.
