PROVIDENCE, RI – Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and National Grid are launching a new recycling campaign with refrigerator art in Kennedy Plaza.
To promote its program of recycling old refrigerators, National Grid teamed-up with the Department of Art, Culture and Tourism to place art exhibits of refrigerators across the city.
Lynne McCormack, Director of the Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, says National Grid's goals for the campaign are important to the city of Providence.
"It's really about getting more energy efficient refrigerators out to the public and getting people to stop using old refrigerators," she says. "Those draw a lot of electricity and they're really energy inefficient."
The public will have a chance to vote on their favorite fridge, and the winner will be announced in early October.
