Ohio Governor, and Republican presidential candidate John Kasich will make a campaign stop in Rhode Island. His team made the announcement Sunday.
Kasich will host a town hall event at Bryant University, on Saturday April 23rd. In a statement the campaign says, Kasich will speak on his plan to win at the Republican National convention. Some local Republicans have voiced support for Kasich's moderate approach. So far, the Republican candidates have been slow to organize robust ground campaigns in Rhode Island. Both Democratic candidates, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, have opened several field offices in the Ocean State.
Most political analysts say Kasich’s nomination by popular vote is unlikely, but a contested convention could yield a new nominee other than front runners Donald Trump or Ted Cruz.
