Providence, R.I. – Rhode Island voters seeking to cast ballots in a different political party's primary election must disaffiliate from their current party by Wednesday.
Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis says voters can change their affiliation by contacting their local board of canvassers. But Wednesday is the deadline.
The primary is Sept. 14.
Mollis says 700,000 Rhode Islanders, a record high, registered to vote in the 2008 elections.
