RI Division Of Sheriffs Looking For A More Diverse Batch Of Recruits

Mar 20, 2017

As the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs continues accepting applications for their latest academy recruits, officials say they hope to pull from a wider group of candidates.

Chief Sheriff David DeCesare says the sheriffs’ division is looking for recruits who better represent the communities they are to serve.

The unpaid, six-week academy tests recruits for the physical and emotional stamina needed for the job.

Graduates of the program go on to support the state’s court system from providing security to transporting inmates.
