Providence, RI – Rhode Island Congressman Jim Langevin supports President Obama's proposed budget, saying while it needs some work, it's a good start.
"Coupling greater long-term deficit reductions with short-term economic investments will strike the right balance toward moving toward economic and fiscal sustainability," Langevin says.
Langevin says he's concerned about cuts to student aid, housing assistance and community health centers.
Rhode Island social service agencies say the budget proposal could spell severe cuts to state housing, energy and education programs.
Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed has signed a letter urging the Budget Office to reconsider the proposed cuts to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
