Providence, RI – Rhode Island is among the ten states with the highest rates of drug overdose deaths in the nation. That's according to a new report out from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For every 100,000 deaths in Rhode Island, about 17 were due to drugs.
Rhode Island's rate ranks it 7th in the nation for lethal overdoses, behind states including New Mexico, West Virginia, and Nevada. It is the only New England state in the top ten.
