RI Residents Could See Another Beach Season With Reduced Parking Fees

Apr 17, 2017

Those reduced beach parking fees Rhode Island residents enjoyed last summer could make a comeback this season.

Gov. Gina Raimondo has expressed that she would like to continue the reduced fees this year. Residents would pay $6 for weekday and $7 for weekend parking- half of what parking would usually cost.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management keeping the reduced parking fees help make the beach accessible and increase tourism. But DEM officials warn that keeping the reduced fees for residents would lose the state $780,000 for the year.
