PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island's unemployment rate dipped slightly in January from December. The January unemployment rate ticked down .2 percent from December to land at 11.3 percent.
That's compared to the U.S. rate of 9 percent. January saw 1,100 fewer unemployed residents with a little more than 65,000 Rhode Islanders seeking work.
The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training has also issued a correction, saying it originally stated that the highest unemployment rate last year was 12.7 percent, when it was actually 11.8 percent.
