Providence, RI – Rhode Island's unemployment rate continues to edge downward, though at a painfully slow rate. The state Department of Labor and Training reports the unemployment rate fell from 11.2 percent in February to 11 percent in March. The number of unemployed residents decreased by 11-hundred to around 63-thousand.
Several economic sectors reported over-the-month gains with the largest occurring in hospitality and financial services. The educational sector lost 500 jobs, mainly due to cutbacks at private colleges, universities and schools.
