RIPTA bus driver injured

PROVIDENCE, RI – A Rhode Island Public Transit Agency driver has been critically injured after a crash in Warwick on Monday. Police say there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. The 42-year-old driver apparently suffered a medical condition while he was behind the wheel, and crashed into a tree.

Police say they have found no sign that speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Investigators are withholding the driver's identity until his relatives are notified.
