Rutgers Eyes URI’s Hurley

Rutgers University is reportedly interested in University of Rhode Island Basketball Coach Dan Hurley, as officials seek a new athletic director. Former Head Coach Mike Rice got the boot this week after a video showed him yelling homophobic slurs at players, along with other abusive behavior.

Sources tell Yahoo! Sports that Hurley is Rutgers top choice for the position. They’re also reportedly considering Detroit Pistons Coach Lawrence Frank.

Hurley, who has been at URI for just one season, has a reputation for building strong teams. Some observers have questioned whether he can be lured to New Jersey after such a short tenure at URI.
