Schilling to host WWII event
By ALEX NUNES
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Red Sox pitcher and video game developer Curt Schilling will be in Providence tonight to host a panel discussion with the veterans portrayed in the television series Band of Brothers.
World War Two documentary producer Tim Gray says the event will feature three original Band of Brothers soldiers and two actors from the HBO production. Gray says it will also help raise money for a documentary and monument.
"It's a fundraiser for a project we're working on to honor the commander of Easy Company, and that was the commander of the men that we're going to be having in," Gray says. "We're building a monument to him in Normandy."
Tonight's event will be at seven at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium. Organizers are expecting a crowd of 800.
