Several RI beaches closed over bacteria levels

Providence, R.I. – High bacteria levels in the water prompted the Department of Health to close four beaches to swimming.

The beaches include the Atlantic Beach Club, Third Beach and Peabody's Beach in Middletown, and the town beach in Warren.

Water quality will continue to be monitored and the beaches re-opened for swimming when it's determined the water is safe.

Updated information about swimming at Rhode Island beaches is available at the DOH Web site or at 401-222-2751.
