State Police arrest + charge former bookkeeper for the Sundluns in fraud case
A one-time bookkeeper for Susan and the late former Governor Bruce Sundlun has been arrested by state police in a fraud case:
Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, announces that on July 19, 2012, the Rhode Island State Police arrested Teresa A. Roby, age 37, of 775 Old Baptist Road, North Kingstown for three counts of Larceny over $500, one count of Uttering and Publishing Forged Checks and one count of Uttering and Publishing Forged Debit Card Receipts.
The arrest was the result of an investigation by the State Police Financial Crimes Unit of a complaint filed by Susan G. Sundlun, owner of East Greenwich Photo Inc. Roby was the bookkeeper for Susan Sundlun, East Greenwich Photo Inc. and the late Governor Bruce Sundlun.
It is alleged that from November 2010 through August 2011, Roby used Susan Sundlun’s debit card and wrote checks on Susan Sundlun’s account for Roby’s personal expenses without authorization, forged Susan and Bruce Sundlun’s names on checks to deposit them into her personal account, deposited Susan Sundlun’s unendorsed paychecks into her own account, charged her Verizon cable television, internet and phone bill to East Greenwich Photo Inc. and charged her children’s martial arts lessons to Bruce Sundlun’s credit card. The total amount of money fraudulently obtained was $21,386.
Roby was processed at the Wickford Barracks, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Robinson and released on $10,000 Personal Recognizance.
