Providence, RI – Rhode Island is receiving thousands of dollars in federal funding for programs that target underage drinking, juvenile delinquency and a reduction in Internet crimes. About $225 thousand dollars from the US Department of Justice will go to support a state police task force on Internet crimes committed against children. Another $300 thousand will help local law enforcement officials prevent underage drinking and raise awareness of its harms. A third grant of $261 thousand dollars will be used to hire judges, probation officers and court-appointed defenders in an effort to improve the juvenile justice system and decrease delinquency in the state.
