CRANSTON, R.I. – A man charged with killing his wife at her home in Cumberland has been found dead in his cell of an apparent suicide at the Adult Correctional Institutions.
ACI spokeswoman Tracey Zeckhausen says 40-year-old Peter Pytka was found yesterday. State police are investigating.
Pytka's wife, Tracey-Ann Pytka, was found by the couple's 14-year-old son on December 20. It appeared she had been fatally stabbed.
Prosecutors said the couple had a history of marital problems, and she had thrown him out of their home a few weeks before her killing.
Peter Pytka was arrested just before authorities said he was going to take his own life.
Zeckhausen says she is prevented by privacy laws from saying whether Pytka had been on suicide watch.
