Fall River, MA – A 130-year-old lighthouse on the Taunton River is back up for sale after a failed deal to turn it into a brewery.
Michael Gabriel, a Nevada attorney, bid $55,000 on the Borden Flats Lighthouse last year, but claims that the General Services Administration has prevented him from closing on the 50-foot tower and two other lighthouses.
Gabriel also said that he has brought the matter to federal court in Nevada and will continue with plans to turn the Fall River lighthouse into a microbrewery if he wins the lawsuit.
"GSA made a motion to dismiss for want of jurisdiction, and lost. So it's going to be quite an interesting case," Gabriel said.
Whoever ends up purchasing the cast-iron tower will be required to preserve it.
