PROVIDENCE, RI – An $11.5 million expansion by Toray Plastics will add 28 new jobs at its Quonset Point facility.
The expansion comes on the heels of a vote by the state Economic Development Corporation for a $1 million grant for the Japanese company.
Much of the Toray expansion will go to buying new equipment at its manufacturing facility. The expansion project is expected to be completed next year.
In a statement, House Speaker Gordon Fox says Toray's growth sends a signal the company is pleased with the cooperation it's receiving in Rhode Island.
It's still unclear Toray will pursue a larger expansion that could add 200 jobs in Rhode Island, Virginia, or another state.
