PROVIDENCE, RI – A group that opposes same-sex marriage is calling on its supporters to get in touch with US Senator Jack Reed.
This comes after pro-same sex marriage groups called on Reed earlier this week to help undo the Defense of Marriage Act, DOMA. That act bars federal recognition of same-sex marriage.
The National Organization for Marriage Rhode Island responded by urging its supporters to contact Reed and encourage him to support DOMA.
Reed has said he is studying the Defense of Marriage Act. The senator voted for DOMA when it became law in 1996.
