WRNI – The Governor of Rhode Island is appologizing to anyone hurt in the Monday raid on a tax free tobacco shop opened by the Narragansett Indian tribe. Leaders of the tribe say they all deserve an appology, but law enforcement officials are still defending their actions. They say it was members of the tribe who are responsible for the physical confrontation on tribal lands. Both sides are now asking the courts to mediate the dispute. WRNI's Mark Degon prepared this report for Morning Edition with contributions from WRNI'S Ann Kenda, Tom Kogut, Martha Bebinger and Kelley Kreitz.
