WRNI – In the mid 1940's there were some 50,000 adoptions recorded in this country. 25-years later, they hit a peak of 175,000. Many of the women who gave up custody of their children recall a society that rejected them and their offspring. An artist at the Rhode Island School of Design is trying to tell the stories of some of those women. Ann Fessler plans several multi-media exhibits using video and audio recordings. She spoke with WRNI's Deborah Becker. The first installation opens in Baltimore in January.
