The deadline to register to vote in September’s primary election is right around the corner: August 10.
State law requires you to register to vote at least 30 days before any primary election. To vote in the September 9th primary in Rhode Island, voters must be registered by August 10. If you’ve moved or changed your name recently, you’ll want to update your registration or make sure it’s active by then, too, if you’re planning on voting. Secretary of State Ralph Mollis has announced that his office will be open Sunday august 10th until 1 pm to accommodate last minute registrations.
Voters can also check their registration or download voter registration forms from the Secretary of State’s web site. But they’ll have to be received by your local Board of Canvassers or postmarked by August 10 to make the deadline.
