Whitehouse plans visit to RI job training center

Providence, R.I. – U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse will be in Rhode Island this week to tour a job training center.

The Democrat is scheduled to visit with staff at the Family Resources Community Action Employment and Training Center in Woonsocket on Tuesday.

Congress adjourned for a weeklong Independence Day recess without extending federal unemployment benefits. Whitehouse's office says the U.S. Department of Labor estimates that 5,000 Rhode Islanders will lose unemployment insurance benefits by July 10.
