Whitehouse pushing jobs bills
By FLO JONIC
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is throwing his support behind a package of bills aimed at growing jobs.
One bill would end tax benefits for companies that ship jobs overseas. Another would permit the United States to impose trade sanctions on countries like China that artificially control their currency valuation. And a third would help small businesses obtain capital.
Whitehouse says there's one common thread that unites the bills. "Jobs. More jobs in Rhode Island and around the country and support our economy after the disaster we've been through," says Whitehouse.
Whitehouse was interviewed during a tour of a Pawtucket knitting mill that makes elastics and webbing.
