Providence, RI – Government economists made it official yesterday that the country has been in recession since March.
That is also the view of many business owners in Rhode Island, particularly manufacturers. While
cutting costs, some have found a government-funded alternative to lay offs. Workshare is a program that allows employers to reduce the hours of some employees, who can then collect partial unemployment compensation benefits. WRNI?s Martha Bebinger prepared this report for Morning Edition:
