Rhode Island’s ACLU is calling the 2018 state legislative session a "mixed bag" for civil liberties.

Steve Brown, the group's executive director, said there were some wins, but he was particularly frustrated by the failure of two bills, one supporting equal pay and another addressing sexual harassment.

"The fact that neither of these two bills passed during a year of the 'Me Too' movement and lots of interest in these issues, not just in Rhode Island but nationwide, was a real disappointment," Brown said.
