Future Docs: Educating Doctors for a Changing Health Care Landscape

Rhode Island Public Radio presents a public forum hosted by the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University on Tuesday April 23, at the Alpert Medical School, 222 Richmond Street, Providence. There will be a reception from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, with a discussion from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.

The event is free, but an RSVP is appreciated.

Brown Engineering Expansion on College Hill

Brown University is planning on a major expansion at its School of Engineering. The announcement comes Wednesday following gifts to the program totaling $44 million dollars from two alumni. The expansion will take place on land currently owned by the University on College Hill, said University spokesman Marisa Quinn.

But should we expect doctors to know something about how our health care system works? How about the Affordable Care Act – one of the most important changes in health care policy in a generation? Family Hopes Facebook Video Will Reach Missing Brown Student

It’s been a little over three weeks since Brown University philosophy major Sunil “Sunny” Tripathi disappeared. His family has posted an online video in hopes of reaching out to him.

The video, which will be posted on Facebook, contains messages of love from Sunny Tripathi’s family, who remain in Providence looking for him.  The missing man’s brother, Ravi Tripathi, says the hope is that Sunny will see it and come home.

Brown and JWU to Partner on Medical Education

Brown University's medical school and Johnson & Wales University's new physician assistant program are going to look for ways to collaborate, the schools announced today. What might that look like? According to the announcement: "sharing training facilities, jointly arranging lectures, pursuing educational grants, and engaging in cost-sharing."

Several Tips but No Solid Leads on Missing Brown Student

The family of a missing Brown student says while tips are pouring in, there are still no significant leads. The 22-year-old has been missing since March 16th.  Providence Police had said that the family thought Sunil Tripathi committed suicide, but the family is now ruling that out.

The father of Sunil “Sunny” Tripathi  says every day the family calls homeless shelters, hospitals and is plastering fliers up in areas his son liked to visit, hoping that someone knows where he is.

Search Continues for Missing Brown Student

The FBI has joined the search for a missing Brown University student, who disappeared from his Providence apartment earlier this month. Sunil Tripathi was last seen on March 16th. His sister, Sangeeta Tripathi, says the 22-year-old philosophy student had taken a leave of absence from Brown, but his disappearance came as a shock to friends and family.

Family Fears Missing Brown Student Killed Himself

Student Sunil Tripathi was last seen on March 16th.

The family of a missing Brown University student has told police they fear he’s killed himself.  Providence Police searched portions of Narragansett Bay and the Seekonk River in hopes of finding the body of 22-year-old Sunil Tripathi, a Brown University philosophy student who vanished March 16th.  Providence Police Sgt. Carl Weston says the student’s family fears he killed himself.

Acclaimed Author, Brown Prof. Dead at 82

Chinua Achebe, author of the classic novel "Things Fall Apart," has died at the age of 82. The Nigerian-born Achebe was a professor in Brown's Africana Studies Department.
