RI sues Schilling, former EDC head, others for 38 Studios deal

PROVIDENCE, RI – Gov. Lincoln Chafee has announced that the state is suing Curt Schilling, former Economic Development Corporation head Keith Stokes and others over the 38 Studios guaranteed loan that went belly up.

In a YouTube video, the governor called the lawsuit part of his goal to protect the taxpayers as much as he can.

Moderate Party founder Ken Block is backing Brendan Doherty + President Obama

How many Ken Block-style voters are out there?

That’s a big question, since Block says he plans to split his ticket on Tuesday, voting for President Obama and Republican CD1 candidate Brendan Doherty. If Doherty is going to prevail as Rhode Island’s great GOP hope, he needs tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders to do the same thing.

Rhode Island’s antiquated voting system

Tomorrow (Nov. 6th) is election day, America’s grand tribute to democracy. RIPR political analyst Scott MacKay wonders why Rhode Island is so far behind most of the country in promoting voter turnout.

The 1960 presidential election remains etched in American political annals. It signaled the ascension of two young World War II veterans to the pinnacle of national leadership.  One of those candidates, Massachusetts Sen. John F. Dems outraged by GOP ads in RI congressional race

PROVIDENCE, RI – A state Democratic spokesman says Republicans have crossed the line with commercials aimed at Congressman David Cicilline. The campaign of Republican opponent Brendan Doherty responds by calling the criticism legitimate.

A new commercial from the National Republican Congressional Committee highlights criminal defense work that Cicilline did before becoming mayor of Providence. The cases in question involve cases where Cicilline represented a child molester, a killer, and other violent criminals.

Jack Reed endorses Diossa in Central Falls’ mayoral race

James Diossa has landed the endorsement of RI’s senior senator, Jack Reed.

Via news release:  

“I am supporting James because I know that he is the right leader to turn Central Falls around and lead it to a bright new future,” Senator Reed stated.  “I have walked the streets of Central Falls with him and I trust that he will be a strong advocate for the people of his city.”

Reed said that, “this coming Tuesday is a critical election and I hope you will stand with James Diossa, a candidate who truly embodies the city’s motto of ‘a bright future.’”
